コンクールは展覧会の枠内で実施されたもの。展覧会のロゴには赤いバックに抜かれた白地の円に「Ｔ」の文字が書かれ、ナチスのハーケンクロイツの様式に似せたたデザインが選ばれた。ＡＰ通信によれば展覧会は３日からスタートし、会期は１週間。
展覧会にはイラン内外の７４か国のアーティストの１６１４点が集まった。そのうち４点は米国人アーティストの作品で２作品には賞が授与されている。
優勝したのはイラン人芸術家のハディ・アサディ氏で１５００ドルの賞金を受け取った。アサディ氏の作品ではトランプ大統領がドル札でできたジャンパーに米国旗のネクタイをしめ、髪の毛は松明のように燃え盛った姿で表現されており、これが世界中を焼き尽くす炎を想起させる。
風刺画コンクールと展覧会の開催目的について組織者のマスオド・ショジャイ・タバタバイ氏は「トランプ氏の正しくない行い」を知らしめることだと話している。
